In recognition of Earth Day’s 49th birthday we wanted to write about how plantation grown eucalyptus mats can reduce your company’s carbon footprint and help support the maintenance of United States hardwood forests and biodiversity.
Because eucalyptus plantations are fast growing and a single species the total tree biomass (the amount of biological “stuff”) growth is about five times faster per acre of land than a United States hardwood forest. Total biomass growth is exactly related to total carbon sequestered by a forest.
